Company Founder Profile

Larry is the founder and managing director of Wang & Li Asia Resources , a human resources services company that provides recruitment and organization & staff development services to leading international companies operating in the mainland. Wang & Li's recruitment services were formed in direct response to the growing needs of expanding multinationals to identify high caliber, bilingual/international-oriented professional and management talent for their growing operations in China .

 

For the past 12 years, Larry has dedicated his career to the hiring, development, and success of international-caliber professional talent in Greater China and has written two books on this topic. His first, The New Gold Mountain , released in May of 1998, was written for overseas and returnee Chinese professionals and focused on their regional career opportunities and how to best apply their bilingual/international-oriented backgrounds. His most recent book, Know The Game, Play The Game , released in August of 2001, speaks directly to today's maturing generation of “homegrown” mainland professionals. The book provides guidance for their advancement and success within world-class organizations operating in China . Both books provide practical insights and advice into developing the type of skills and qualities needed to succeed in today's rapidly evolving business environment.

Larry is a frequent speaker at leading mainland and U.S. MBA programs, as well as HR conferences and professional organizations throughout North America and Greater China. He is often asked to provide his insights and comments on management and human capital issues in China by media, such as CNBC, CNN, CCTV, AWSJ, Business Week, Business Beijing , and The South China Morning Post , to name a few. In 2002, he hosted the weekly morning program, Know The Game, Play The Game , on China 's largest English radio station, China Radio International , which featured interviews with well-established international business executives, and shared management and career development advice to bilingual professionals in the mainland.

Larry received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and his M.B.A. from UCLA's Anderson School of Management. In 1992, he founded Chinese-American Professionals in Taiwan (CAPT), the first professional organization targeting the interests of Chinese-American professionals in Asia . In 1999, he founded Chinese-American Professionals in Shanghai (CAPS).

Prior to founding Wang & Li, Larry worked for nearly 10 years at Mattel Toys and Wang Laboratories in the United States . His presence in Greater China over the past 17 years has included time living in Taipei, Hong Kong, Beijing, and now Shanghai, where he oversees Wang & Li's China operations.
